Captain Miller is a 2024 Indian Tamil epic action-adventure film directed by Arun Matheswaran and produced by Sathya Jyothi Films. The film is the first of a planned trilogy starring Dhanush, Shiva Rajkumar, Priyanka Arul Mohan Mohan, Aditi Balan, Sundeep Kishan, Edward Sonnenblick and John Kokken in supporting roles. Set during the British Raj in 1930s, the film follows a former British Army soldier as he attempts to save his hometown from destruction by the British Army.
Arun wrote the script in 2018 and Sathya Jyothi Films is producing. However, it wasn't until 2019 that things started to take shape and nothing was finalized. The working title is D47 (the 47th film starring Dhanush). The film has been announced to be released in July 2022. Principal photography began in September and will be completed by the end of 2023, with filming taking place in Chennai, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi.Music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography is by Siddhartha Nuni and editing is by Nagooran Ramachandran.
Captain Miller opens worldwide on Harvest Week on January 12, 2024 in standard and IMAX formats. The film received positive reviews from critics and grossed over 10,479 crore rupees ($13 million) at the box office. [4][3]
